I absolutely adored this book! The first couple of chapters were a little awkward, learning to adjust to the Welsh names was a bit tricky - some being more difficult than others, but eventually it was easier to recognise the characters.
Gwenni was a fascinating character - a girl of just "12 and a half", and she was painted in such a realistic way that she was charming and heart-warming without being made-up as 'cute'. The other characters, even those who were no so central to the story, were also constructed so well that they simply walked off the pages and into reality.
The novel deals with some very real issues, some more terrible than others, and despite the serious connotations behind everything that Gwenni does in the novel, the Earth's hum is louder still. This novel shines with its own individual magic. Definitely a special read!

Sounds like a book I would have devoured when I was younger! If I see it in my library though I'll definitely check it out :P I just have way to many books on my wishlist to add any more. lol.

The premise sounds as fascinating as the title. I wish your review had gone into a bit more detail, though. For instance, would you say the story lived up to the title? And what does it mean, anyway?
