Every week a new 'musing' question is posted by the host for all participants to answer in their own posts.
This week's musing is:
I'm going to have to put my hands up and say that, on occasion, if a book has a terrible cover, then it will put me off. I will defend myself though, and say that I only allow this to dissuade me from reading the book if the description isn't entirely gripping as well.Would you choose to review a book if its description sounded interesting, but the cover was terrible?
If it's a terrible cover, but the synopsis sounds fantastic, then yes of course I will still read it! Often these things don't matter anyway because I tend to read many review books on my Kindle, where you can't see the cover to the books - sometimes this is a blessing, but sometimes I wish I could see the cover, it depends.
The content of the book is what truly matters though. I know we like our books to look pretty - I'm as much of a sucker for a beautiful book cover as the next person, but as the saying goes, 'Don't judge a book by its cover'.
If it sounds interesting, I'll read it!

something I dislike about e-books....
I would most definitely review a book if the back blurb caught my eye and the cover wasn't so appealing.
Yup, on an ereader covers don't really matter :)

Yes, book content matters. But if you haven't read the book, you know nothing about the content except 1) the title, which is an indication of content (for example, THE NIGHT I SUCKED YOUR BLOOD would put me off); 2) description, which is subjective, and the review you're reading could have been written by a shallow person or someone with a low IQ; and 3)the cover, which is an indication of content(for example, a cover with a picture of a bare-chested man would put me off. So, yes, some covers sure do put me off.
I've got to rethink my cover snobbery.
