I'm so excited about this giveaway guys - fairy tale adaptations and re-tellings are becoming so much more popular nowadays, and I think that's a truly great thing to see.
When it's a tale you already recognise and love, but with a whole new, unique and exciting twist, it can really get your heart racing! Definitely exciting stuff!
This giveaway hop is not entirely what you will be used to! It's something new and exciting!
Before I get into the business of the giveaway, the different bloggers taking part in this hop have been asked to talk about their favourite fairy tales in some way. So what I have decided to do, is tell you a little about my favourite fairy tale character, and why I like them so much.
Due to the fact that I studied Children's Fiction in University last semester, and a large portion of the module was focused on fairy tales, I may ramble on a little bit about the evolution of the fairy tale - but I guess that is kind of relevant, seeing as the books I will be offering to the winner are in fact, the newest generation of evolved fairy tales!
So here is the ramble:
I think, out of all many hundreds of various fairy tale characters across the world, my favourite has to be Red Riding Hood. Though I feel that I must point out that it is not her original incarnation in the tales of Charles Perrault, or even before him, that I adore - no, she was a feminist's worst nightmare! - I am talking about post-eighteenth century Red Riding Hood, the girl that was born, I suppose, from the tales of the Brothers Grimm.
The Grimms' version of Little Red Cap, as she had been known in Perrault's version of the tale, was a much stronger, more independent character. The first tale the Grimms told was a familiar tale to us all; Little Red Riding Hood gets eaten by the nasty, predatory (male) wolf, and is rescued, along with her Grandmother, by the strong, fearless Huntsman (yak!). However, there is a short tale at the end of the Brothers Grimm version, that tells of a second wolf attack on the little girl, and this time, armed with her new knowledge of their cunning, she defeats him herself, drowning him in a trough of water.
Contemporary versions of Little Red Riding Hood are even better, depicting her as entirely independent, strong-minded, physically strong (in some cases), intelligent, and frankly, just a bit kick-ass.
Right! Now for the rules of the giveaway!

I love Belle from Beauty and the Beast just because she was able to see past appearances and love him anyway!
I always loved Aurora from Sleeping Beauty, and Ariel...I think it's because they both have A names like me, so when I was little I loved that. Plus, I always feel like everyone forgets about Aurora. :D I'm also a sucker for Beauty and the Beast...honestly, I'm bad at picking favourites! haha But, I'm going to go with Aurora because that girl needs some love! :D
Thanks for the giveaway! :D
Hmm this is hard, although when I was little I used to love the Little Mermaid! She had the courage to take a huge risk and gave up so much just for a chance (not even a sure thing!) of being with her love!
I have always loved Cinderella, she rises above everything to go to the ball and have the night of her life and of course a happy ending :)
My favorite is Belle from Beauty and the Beast as well. Because she has a kind heart and didn't condemn the Beast because of his looks. Plus, she loves reading! (at least, the Disney version does)
I love Bella from Beauty and the Beast because of her love for books and the fact she didn't care about looks and only cared about someone's personality :)
I love belle and cinderella. thanks for the great giveaway
My favorite is Belle from Beauty and the Beast.

My favourite faerie tale character would be a toss-up between the Little Mermaid and the sister of the Six Swans, because they are both totally unselfish and willing to suffer greatly in the name of love.
Belle! I honestly don't know why, but I've loved her since I was little. :)
I really like Cinderella, I just finished reading Cinder and I loved it so maybe thats why I'm partial to her right now!!!
When I was a kid, I was obsessed with Snow White! I would watch the movie every day and never got tired of it :)
I always loved the story of the twelve dancing princesses because as a child I loved dancing and I took ballet and jazz tap and I wanted to be one of those princesses :)
Disney's Little Mermaid! She's quirky i like that. And the original little mermaid, which was tragic but in essence i really like her.
I really love Snow from Mirror, Mirror. She trains, becomes a totally kickass fighter, and she fights back against the queen.
My favorite fairy tale character has always been cinderella probably because listening to her story always inspires me!

My favourite is Ariel, the beautiful red haired girl who not afraid to dream in a big way. ^^ I love her!
Definitely sleeping Beauty! Why? Ahem ... I love to take extensive naps just like she does :-D!!
Belle from Beauty and the Beast - I mean really, who else could fall in love with a beast :P
I like Belle of Beauty and The Beast, like most people here =p. She prouds of her geek-self, risks and dares her own life to save her father, and can see beneath the surface, in this case, Beast =)
It's always been Cinderella. I used to want to be her when I was little. Her happily ever after was all I could daydream about too.;)
I love the original Little Mermaid! She chose not to kill the prince and his bride even if it means that she'll be hurt. :)
My favorite is Cinderella. She begins so lonely, then becomes determined and then happy. Also, she's got so many animals helping her!
Belle from Beauty and the Beast. She's scared but lives though her fear to save someone she loves. And she loves books. That's good enough reason for me :P
Can I choose Ariel...I alway wanted to be a Real Mermaid, sure :D I love the Disney film inspite of that tha REAL fairytale is amazingly sad...but I like it to 'cause it's like real life...there's not just Good but there's Bad, too!
My favourite...well I don't know if it is a technical fairy tale, but I always loved Odette from The Swan Princess.
But I also always loved Belle from Beauty and the Beast.
I don't know if it counts, but I've always been fascinated with the story of Robin Hood! Failing that, Cinderella!
My favorite is Ariel because she's not afraid to have big dreams.
Mine would be the little mermaid because she can sing, swim and she is pretty darn cool.
My favorite fairytale character is Aurora from Sleeping Beauty.
My favorite is Aladin. He is such a free spirit.
My favorite character would be Cinderella because even thou her step mother and step sisters where cruel to her she still loves them.
Cinderella because she is beautiful
Belle from Beauty & the Beast. She's an amazing character. She's got patience, love & care & manages to make a selfish beast fall in love with her.
I always loved the Beast from Beauty and the beast. How in the end he was able to change, how he loved Beauty more than himself.
If this counts, then I'd have to go with Peter Pan! I've always loved him and when I was a kid, I wished I could be Wendy Darling...lol.
Thanks for the wonderful giveaway!
I have always loved the sisters in the Twelve Dancing Princesses, as they were really cool and were awesome dancers. I've always wanted to dance well. :)
I love Belle from Beauty and the Beast. I always wanted to be her when I was little......and even though I'm older now, I kinda still want to be her =D
I've always loved The Little Mermaid ever since I was little because, really, what girl hasn't dreamed about being a mermaid at one point in her life? :)
My favorite is Rapunzel.
My favorite fairy tale character is Rosered...also Goldenmary & Frau Holle.
I'd have to say Cinderella.
[email protected]
My favorite fairy tale character is probably Pocahontas, because I loved that movie when I was child.
I don't think I have just one favorite character, I always loved both Snow-White and Rose-Red, and the sister from The Six Swans (these are actually my two favorite fairy tales). And I have to say Tiana from Disney's the Princess and the Frog. She doesn't wait for people to do things for her, she does them herself.
I loved Belle from Beauty and the Beast because she was smart and didn't care what other people thought and took care of the people she loved. She didn't just go around in fancy dresses looking for a prince. But she was still beautiful anyway.
Thanks for the giveaway!
Lori
Mine would be Little Red Riding hood just because I love the story.
Rupunzel. I just love the story.
Wendy from Peter Pan. I played her in a ply when I was younger and was proud that I had gotten the part.
Rapunzel, in the movie Tangled! Not really a fairy tale, but the movie is awesome, as is the character!
Love Cinderella, and the new retelling Cinder too.
Mine was Snow White !!

Thanks for the giveaway! I've always loved Beauty and the Beast, so Belle would be my pick! She loved to read and didn't judge the beast by his appearance. Great message!
Sleeping Beauty.
Aurora and the Prince have always been my favorites.
After them would be Belle because she loved to read.
Cinderella was my favorite. I loved her pretty dresses and shoes, and the Prince!!!
My favorite fairy tale is Sleeping Beauty. I've always loved Aurora. I used to name my dolls Aurora. lol
Lauren
Belle from Beauty and the Beast. I like that she doesn't judge the "book" by it's cover!
It's a tossup between Snow White and Red Riding Hood.
Cinderella. She had a good heart and she got what she deserved
I will say Ariel from the Little Mermaid- the original story.
My favourite fairy tale character would have to be Tinkerbell because she never gives up when things aren't going the way they are supposed to.
(I have a 6 year old who LOVES Tinkerbell so I've watched all of the movies with her... LOL)
Thanks for the great giveaway & good luck everyone!!!
Cinderella :)
i don't know that i have a favorite. i love them all!! but if i really really had to pick i guess i would say little red riding hood : )
Robin Hood, because he is selfish and devotes his life to helping the poor.
Snow White has always been the epitome of beauty and goodness to me since childhood which carried onto adulthood.
Cherry Mischievous
My favorite fairy tale character is Snow White, because I've always sort of been enchanted by her. She was such a beautifully written character, who was pretty much the fairest in all the land. I loved the way that she was attuned to nature and all of the little woodland creatures and that she lived with 7 little men whom she adopted as her family. :)

Elise from The Wild Swans.
I always loved Bella from Beauty and the Beast because of her love for books and her good-heart nature. She wasn't afraid to express her opinion 6 fight for what she belived ^^
Belle from Beauty and the Beast because she doesn't judge a book/person by it's cover.
Rapunzel, Belle from B&B, Anastasia... :) Thanks! :)
Odette from Swan Lake is my favorite fairy tale character. Swan Lake is a ballet, but the story is so magical. Thanks for the giveaway!
I always loved Belle from Beauty and the Beast, because she was a bookworm. I loved Aurora from Sleeping Beauty because it is just an awesome fairy tale, and in the Disney movie she had such pretty hair. Thanks for the giveaway!
If Peter Pan qualifies as a fairy tale than it would be Peter Pan himself. Primarily it's because the original Peter Pan, played on Broadway and televised live, was Mary Martin. It made a huge impression on me that, altho the character was male, the star was female!
Neglected to leave my GFC name in the above post - puttputt1198eve Thanks
I think my favourite fairy tale character is Cinderella. Always loved to hear the story.
I've always loved Ariel or The Little Mermaid. I didn't like the original story but I've always loved that she went so far to try to get her prince and that she was brave and a pretty sensible character. Thanks for the giveaway. :)
The Beast! From, the beauty & the Beast, you know.
He's a character full of conflict that finds love in a very unexpected way. & not just that; he keeps Belle with him against her will! IDK, I like that.
Probably Aurora from Sleeping Beauty. I just kind of like everything about her, she has always been my favorite fairy tale princess!
Favorite character: Flounder. He's funny and loyal. Best BFF.
Mulan! she's so strong and loyal and courageous =)
My favorite character is Belle from Beauty and the Beast.
I so love Ariel of Little Mermaid....
I dug the original---Cinderella.
Thanks so much for the giveaway
My favourite, though not traditional has to be Esmeralda from The Hunchback of Notre Dame as well as the kick-butt Little Red Riding Hood. (:
Both strong females, love it!
Thanks for the opportunity, loved reading about Lil' Red. LOVE the Brothers Grimm.
Hard to tell, since I'm more of a fan or fairy-tale retelling, (and not a Disney fan, at all). One of my favourites from "old-school" tales is the girl from "The Farmer's Clever Daughter", because she is so smart and actually has another goal in mind that has nothing to do with landing a man!
As so many others have said: Belle from BEAUTY AND THE BEAST. I love that she was able to see past the fierce exterior & see the man.
marypres(AT)gmail(DOT)com
I like Belle the most from Beauty and the Beast because she was able to see through his exterior and love him. Not to mention that she loves to read!
Great giveaway! My fave is Aurora and Cinderella. But Love theBeast.
[email protected]
I've loved Belle ever since watching Beauty and the Beast as a little girl, mostly because I really want that library :)
I loved Tinker Bell...i'd love to stay in Never, Never Land with the lost boys.
My favourite is Ariel from Little Mermaid, because I love her singing and the fact she would give up so much to be with her prince!
My favorite character is Cinderella. I always want to be like her and find a prince charming.
I love Belle from Beauty and the Beast. She's brave, beautiful, caring and she doesn't judge a person by his appearance.
Belle from Beauty and the Beast - she loved books and didn't judge by outward appearances.
I think I like a lot of fairy tales and a lot of fairy characters, but my most favorite is probably Belle from Beauty and the Beast for she is sweet and clever, with strong will and tender heart and knows how to tame the beasts:)
Thank you for the giveaway!
Jasmine (from aladin), because she's the only princess from the middle east and has a typical middle eastern beauty, with exotic skins
Out of all of the fairy tales I've read (and I have a massive book of Brother Grimms tales) the one that really resonates with me is the heroine from The Singing Soaring Lark.
She's like the original Belle. She sacrifices herself and encourages her family through it. She winds up falling in love and treating everyone she comes across with respect. She then rescues her prince and follows him over 7 years (thanks to a horrible curse) and makes everything better. She and her prince wind up living happily ever after because of her hard work.
Mine is the mermaid who gave her voice for legs - and love.
I love Cinderella since I was little. I don't know, maybe it's the rags-turned-beautiful that made me love her and the story. And I always feel like I'm her. Til now. :D
If I win (hopefully), I'd like to have any of those books mentioned above--except Beastly (I've read it).
Belle from The Beauty and the Best: I love her character!
Sleeping Beauty! I loved her and her fairies. I know Disney version but it was the 2nd movie I ever owned. Holds a special place in my heart!
Dude, I've got to go for the Beast. =D He's so, so cute in the Disney movie!
I love the original Sleeping Beauty because it's sick and twisted, and it fascinates me.
Hmmm.. Even though Beauty and the Beast is my favorite fairy tale, my favorite fairy tale character is Cinderella. I don't really know why, but I guess it's because she endured so much though she did nothing wrong.
Beauty and the beast (L) I watch that movie - still - all the time, haha. I love Belle. She is funny, a bit goofy and she really showed that real loves look with the heart, not with the mind. She could look through the beast :)
I think my favorite character is either the scarecrow or the tin man of Oz. Probably the tin man because he loved a girls and was willing to lose himself over it and then still try again for her after he lost his heart :)
I love Beauty and the Beast. Check out my giveaway for more details! http://thebookbug-hogan.blogspot.com/2012/04/fairy-tale-giveaway-hop.html
I have always loved Sleeping Beauty.
magic5905 at embarqmail dot com
As a kid I favored Cinderella prob. because I related to the blonde hair and evil stepmother. I also loved Belle back then, but have even more appreciation for her now.
I like Belle from Beauty and the Beast because she was smart.
Belle from Beauty and the Beast. She wasn't a typical damsel in distress waiting for prince charming. She was smart, strong and independent.
Thanks so much for the giveaway! Probably either Belle from Beauty and the Beast because she is kind and independent. :)
Beth xx
Fave fairy tale character would have to be Ariel from the little mermaid o_0
My favorite fairy tale character is Belle because she's the one I most relate to.

I like Cinderella, because she had a horrible life and still found her prince charming. Even if everything seem dark, we still have a goods things to look for.
I would have to say that Anastasia is a favorite of mine. She grew up an orphan and became the Princess that she truly was. Anastasia fell in love with Dimitr. When she found out the truth about Dimitr she thought Dimitr would take the reward money but he did not proving that he loved her as well.

I have always loved Peter Pan because he never wanted to grow up and be an adult!!!
My favorite fairytale is Beauty and the Beast, a tale not only of romance but of friendship and redemption. And my favorite character is Belle, because although she beautiful, she chooses to look past the obvious, and gives preference to a man's character rather than his looks. Plus, she's a READER, what's not to love!?!? :D

Belle. I know, everyone loves her, but there's a reason for it! She's smart and brave and stubborn and pretty and kind.
Hmmm... I like Belle because she seems to have it together and deserves it :)
Rapunzel, idk why. maybe it's because she's funny imo. she's quite likeable too.
I'd say Cinderella since she was one of the first princesses I read about or ever saw on tv. BUT since I saw Tangled, I'm loving Rapunzel!
Ok, I don't know if characters from Tangled count, but I'm in love with Flynn Rider. He's one perfect man tied up in one handsome package. =) Thanks for the giveaway!

I know you've probably heard this a hundred times already but my fave is Belle. FB: TheRest IsStill Unwritten
My favorite is Belle from beauty and the beast! Thanks for the giveaway!
I love Belle in Beauty and the Beast, but to be honest clock and chipper and the candlestick are my real faves! They make the story what it is, and what it is is a classic! Thanks so much for the giveaway!
Cinderella, and ever so optomistic soul despite the cards life was dealing her, which in turn worked out in her favor.
That's hard! I think it'd probably be Belle from Beauty and the Beast because she was so free-spirited and independent, and because she was able to see past appearances, which is a valuable lesson.
I really like Cinderella! Even though she is not treated kindly, and has so much negative happen to her, she still chooses to be positive and kind!

My favorite is the big bad wolf because he is always the poor one. In Red Riding Hood he gets killed, in 7 goats he gets thrown into a well and I am sure there are more examples I can't think of right now.
I feel kind of sad for him. Maybe he would be a really nice guy - wolf guy - if we would understand him right. Who knows?
My favorite fairy tale character is "Ariel from The Little Mermaid" because she is so sweet :)
i always love Belle from Beauty and The Beast just because she have the same reading habbit with me. lol! and i'm so envy with The Beast's library.. ^^

Cinderella for she's humble and courageous.

definitely Rumpelstilskin, even if he is the "villain,"..I just wonder what's with him and babies.

Aurora of Sleeping Beauty. because of her name. It sounds so regal. Plus, she is like the left out one out of all the disney princesses. people would always go for cinderella or ariel or belle.
Belle from Beauty and the Beast is definitely my favorite Fairy Tale character. She's so intelligent and strong and brave, and an inspiration to heroines and women everywhere. Though the ABC show Once Upon a Time is making me reconsider my opinion about Snow White, who is actually a brave, strong woman with principles and morals and integrity and the guts to fight for what she believes in and what she feels is right.
