Goodreads synopsis:
As the last Healer in the Fifteen Realms, Avery of Kazan is in a unique position: in the minds of her friends and foes alike, she no longer exists. Despite her need to prevent the megalomanical King Tohon from winning control of the Realms, Avery is also determined to find her sister and repair their estrangement. And she must do it alone, as Kerrick, her partner and sole confident, returns to Alga to summon his country into battle.
Though she should be in hiding, Avery will do whatever she can to support Tohon’s opponents. Including infiltrating a holy army, evading magic sniffers, teaching forest skills to soldiers and figuring out how to stop Tohon’s most horrible creations yet; an army of the walking dead - human and animal alike and nearly impossible to defeat.War is coming and Avery is alone. Unless she figures out how to do the impossible ... again.
Touch of Power, the first in this series, was my absolute favourite read of 2011 (review here), and I've been ridiculously impatient to get hold of the next book ever since I turned the last page!
This is probably the best fantasy series I've ever read, so far (obviously there's only one book in the series at the moment) - the world-building is just so well done, that it feels like a real place, the characters are so tangible that they walk straight off the page, and the romance (which I love a bit of in everything I read, really), is perfect - it builds naturally and feel completely real - it's great to see the relationship evolve and blossom.
I can't wait for this book, and I will be grabbing a copy as soon as physically possible.

Scent of Magic is on my wishlist too :)
I'm also eagerly waiting for the second book too. I love the fact that it took some time for Avery and Kerrick to fell in love with each other in the first book. Instant love is so overrated. :)
I completely agree - I loved watching the romance unfold - so much more entertaining and satisfying! :)
If it's the best fantasy book you've ever read it is probably worth reading!! I will be adding it to my TBR pile.
I loved it too! Have you read her Study trilogy? I have a feeling you'll like it. ^_^
Ooh, I hadn't heard of this series. I may have to check out the first book.
